# Barometer

**What was happening on the days that felt hard?**

Record your mood from 1–5 with the conditions you choose. Revisit similar days and the small breaks or actions you tried, so your next choice comes with more of your own context.

## Turn daily check-ins into useful context
Capture what matters in the moment, then return to it when another day feels familiar.

### Mood, conditions, and notes
Record mood from 1–5, add scale, yes-or-no, or numeric conditions you configure, and leave an optional note.

### Find similar days in your history
Look back at days with comparable conditions and see what was happening then.

### Remember what you tried
Review the small breaks or actions you recorded and how helpful you rated them.

### Keep outlooks separate from recorded mood
Start with the average of earlier mood records. A more tailored outlook appears only when enough comparable history supports it.

### Weather and period tracking, when useful
Add weather after choosing a location. Record period and cycle dates separately, with your consent, to see an estimate for your next period.

### Keep each record book distinct
Records and outlooks stay within each record book. Linked books let you view entries from the same date side by side.

## From a quick check-in to a useful reminder
### 1. Check in with a number
After work or school, choose a mood from 1–5.

### 2. Add only what matters
Note the conditions, context, rest, or action you want to remember.

### 3. Revisit and choose
Look at similar days, then decide your next small step for yourself.

## Example entry: Today's barometer
- Recorded mood: 4/5
- 1: Difficult
- 5: Good

## Built from your records See a simple starting point, then a more personal outlook.
At first, an outlook can use the average of your earlier mood records. Once there is enough comparable history, it can become more tailored to you. Either way, it stays separate from the mood you record.

## Give a hard day some context.
Start with one mood rating. Over time, your own records can help you reflect and make the next small choice.

## Common questions
- Q: What can I record?
A: You can record mood from 1–5, conditions you configure as scales, yes-or-no choices, or numbers, optional notes, and small rests or actions you tried.

- Q: How does the mood outlook work?
A: At first, Barometer can show the average of your earlier mood records. A more tailored outlook appears only when there is enough comparable personal history. Both are reference information and do not guarantee how you will feel.

- Q: How are weather and period or cycle dates used?
A: Weather is optional and requires a location. Period and cycle dates are optional and recorded separately with your consent. The next-period estimate uses your usual interval first, then eligible recorded start dates, or a clearly labeled 28-day assumption.

- Q: How do record books and action comparisons work?
A: Each record book keeps its records and outlooks separate. Linked books let you view entries from the same date side by side. Helpfulness ratings show what you reported in similar past situations; they do not prove causation or prescribe what to do next.

- Q: How do cloud backups work?
A: Cloud upload is optional, requires sign-in, and is encrypted with your backup password before upload. We cannot recover a lost password. A backup remains accessible for seven days.

- Q: What is deleted when I choose delete?
A: Deleting local records removes records from this device but keeps the account, cloud backups, and safety settings. Deleting cloud data deletes every cloud backup and signs out all sessions, while local records and the account remain. Deleting the account deletes the account and every cloud backup and signs out all sessions. Local records remain.

- Q: Does Barometer collect analytics?
A: Usage events require explicit consent. Depending on your region, technical events may follow regional defaults. If analytics is enabled, the SDK uses pseudonymous identifiers, not anonymous data. You can change the choice in settings.

- Q: Do I need an account?
A: No. Local use works without an account. Sign-in is required only for optional cloud backup and its cloud or account controls.

## Privacy
Records stay on your device by default. Optional cloud backups are encrypted with your backup password. Analytics and deletion controls explain each separate data path.
